ABOUT US

Started in 2007 by several unemployed journalists in the ashes of the financial crisis, the Road began plying its trade across south west London.

Over the last 15 years, we’ve grown to 30+ members and generally play 2 games per week (across 35 over, 40 over, timed games and midweek T20s!), so there’s plenty to keep us and you busy over summer. Our season runs from late April until the end of September. We play our home games in South West London (chiefly in Dundonald Rec in Wimbledon this year, though with others in Battersea Park. We then play away games across SW London and have several lovely games away at beautiful countryside pitches each year! We also have a fantastic UK tour each summer, which provides a great mid-season treat.

Whilst our club members still think of themselves as possible future international stars, they are now mostly London-based office workers, who spend their weeks crumpled over a keyboard bashing out repetitive numbers. This is important, however, as it should avoid creating another financial crisis which will lead to unemployed journalists, who may form a rival cricket team.

Average team member weight: 115kg (fully clothed).

You can see our 2023 season card here on Play-Cricket, to help explain the type of games and oppositions we play.

If you’re interested in our club and keen to get involved for or during our 2024 summer season, please drop us a message via this form here and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Cheers!
