CAPTAIN Fantastic Giles Fagan passed 700 career runs for King’s Road – but couldn’t stop his side being on the end of another beating last night.
The Orange Caps were thrashed by the London Itinerants for the second time this season in a one-sided Twenty20.
It all started badly at the Barnes Wood Bowl as the Ities, whose batsmen retired early at the 25-run limit agreed between both teams, hit out early on at a rate of 10 an over.
But The Road rallied and managed to bowl out the oppo – including the returning retirees – for 142 inside their 20 overs.
Shailesh Joshi was the star with the ball grabbing his first three-wicket haul.
Michael Rossi posted his best ever figures to snare 2 for 3 off two tight overs, and Sham De Silva and Leon Watson posted identical figures of 2 for 23 off 4.
But 143 to win was still a big ask and after The Road stumbled early on – losing openers Shailesh and Gilo in single figures – they never recovered.
Only Sham, who scored 21 to cap a handy all-round performance, and Dan Sherman, with 18, put up any resistance as The Road crumbled for way under 100.
Skipper Gilo did pass the 700-run landmark and Chris MacNichol took a first catch for the club – but that was all The Road had to cheer about.
