NEARLYWED club chairman Giles Fagan bowled over his maiden in a match marking his up-coming marriage.
The golden oldie danced down the aisle again and again to hit 29 not out against The Road for his special one-off invitational side.
Giles was showing off his skills in front of his watching fiance Imogen before the happy couple tie the knot this month and jet off on their honeymoon.
Giles’s Cherrypickers CC side had reformed for the day with friends and family to play in the groom-to-be’s Twenty20 “stag” match.
And in a good-natured friendly match on a sunny summer evening in South Park, the Cherrypickers’ mix of youth and experience triumphed as the beer and banter flowed.
The Road scored 116 for 6 in their 20 overs after getting off to bad – but highly amusing – start when James Pritchard was bowled first ball by schoolboy speedster Archie Dunning.
Giles’s stag do side – mindful there was was a fabulous-looking spread all ready to eat on the sidelines – then knocked off the runs with the husband-to-be starring in his own match before he retired.
It was a joyous occasion The Road were honoured to take part in. Best wishes to the happy couple for their big day.
