HAT-TRICK hero Matt Glover struck four times as King’s Road thrashed the LPL Barbarians last night.
Playing in the first evening Twenty20 of the season, the pacy Yorkshireman returned incredible figures of 4 for 9 off 2 to rip through the Baabaas top order.
It included a sensational first over in which Matt became on the second Orange Cap to take three in three balls.
Kevin Pittaway, newboy Jeremy Smith, Sham De Silva and Richard Peralta also got in on the act with a wicket each at Tooting Bec Common.
Jamie Keating then polished off the tail taking the final two to bowl out the BaaBaas 3.2 overs short of their allocation.
It was a clinical performance from the boys from Battersea in the field that skittled the LPL scratch side, made up of players from the London Itinerants, Corridors CC and Cairns Fudge CC, for a paltry 82.
King’s Road then knocked off the 83 needed to win with ease and record a comprehensive 7 wicket win.
Michael Rossi top scored with 18, Shailesh Joshi hit a quickfire 17 and Sham De Silva was left to hit the winning runs and finish on 9 not out.
But after Man of the Match Matt’s heroics the result was never in doubt.
The Road have now won two out of four games this season and head off on tour to Yorkshire on Friday in high spirits.
