King’s Road belt ’em in Eltham: Gilo, Glover and Sham in the runs against Mottingham

On the drive ... Sham in Eltham

KING’S Road ran riot in New Eltham today looting 225 runs from Mottingham CC’s attack before setting the field alight with their bowling.

Golden oldie Giles Fagan rolled back the years to bat like a socially excluded youth as he rampaged his way to 54.

Matt Glover also helped himself to 43 off 30 balls and Sham de Silva joined the crowd smashing 33.

Mottingham were powerless to stop the Orange Caps piling on the runs as their bowlers failed to stamp their authority on the match.

Matt Small then threw down a series of bombs to finish with three for 29 as The Road tore into Mottingham to dismiss them for 161.

Matt Glover, bowling with pace and anger, got two and Jeremy Smith also bagged a brace. Behind the stumps Gilo got two catches and two stumpings.

It was a relatively comfortable win for the boys from Battersea despite a brilliant fifty at a run a ball from Mottingham man Beere.

Earlier, Mark Isham and Raju Mazumder got The Road off to a solid start and double-figure contributions from Dan Sherman and Jeremy Smith helped make the scorecard look unusually healthy.

The match also saw a tentative return to action for injured King’s Roader Leon Watson, who filled against his teammates for Mottingham and batted at number 11.

Leon, batting with a broken thumb, faced only five balls and finished not out without scoring.
