COOL-HEADED King’s Road kept their nerve against Westway CC to kick off their 2011 season in style with the tightest of wins.
In a match dogged by a sub-standard pitch, The Road batted first and failed to play out their overs in posting 127.
The total – bolstered by a healthy number of extras caused by some wild bounce – looked 25 runs or so short.
But anything was possible on Wandworth Common’s up and down surface and the Orange Caps took full advantage of the dodgy conditions.
Both Sham De Silva and Leon Watson bagged three wickets with Leon polishing off the tail to close out the 8-run win.
