CLUB stalwart Raju Mazumder has revealed he’s gunning for ANOTHER lifetime achievement award – this time for what he’s done on the pitch.
The former skip, who was honoured for his contribution to the club at last year’s awards dinner, vowed to up his game just days before the new season kicks off.
Bullish Raj has been having one-on-one coaching sessions to fine-tune his technique and said he’s ready to play for other teams this year so he can score more runs for The Road.
He said: “I want another lifetime achievement award and this time not for out a few e-mails and writing an insane caricatured blog.
“Call me crazy but I want a lifetime achievement for playing cricket! And the journey however it is starts here.
“I’ve had some coaching, been netting twice a week most weeks and starting to notice a bit of a difference.
“Sure there are loads of areas to work on but I’m getting there – slowly.
“It might that I can get that leggie turning once in a while, it might be that I have only one shot with the bat. It might be that I will be grabbing, gripping and pulling off the field, who knows?
“This is the season when I won’t be there just to hold up an end – I’m not going to be unflushable turd, just a regular one.
“I’m gonna score some big runs and big wickets for KING’S ROAD from now on.
“Playing for other teams like the Itinerants and the Flying Ducksmen is a just a bit of practice.
“An aperitif before I take a big bite out of that meaty pie that is our 20 odd game season.”
