FAST bowling all-rounder Matt Glover got his hands on The Road’s top prize last night after he was voted Player of the Year.
The Yorkshireman’s awesome performances with both bat and ball were rewarded at the Orange Caps’ annual end of season bash at the New Rose pub in Fulham.
Beanpole paceman Matt also scooped Bowler of the Year after bagging a club record 23 wickets in his first season and the title of the club’s Newcomer of the Year.
Batting mainstay Tom Barnes won the Batsman of the Year award for the second year running after topping the run table with 444 at an average of 74.
He also won one half of the Best Dressed on the night award with John Smalley for their revealing orange “Morph” outfits.
Jeremy Smith, also playing in his first season, took the Champagne Moment gong for his stunning burst of 6 for 5 against the London Itinerants.
Matt Small, who wasn’t there to pick up his award, won Fielder of the Year for his energetic displays and Sham de Silva won Most Improved after taking 19 wicket and scoring 312 runs.
Teasmaker of the Year went to Katie Archer for her “constantly delicious and imaginative” cakes.
Former skip Matt Cocken won Most Embarrassing Moment award for an offer to fellow teammates he made on tour and Jamie Keating won the new Tantrum of the Year award for kicking over the stumps in the King of The Road contest.
The final Lifetime Achievement honour went to founder member Leon Watson for his work behind the scenes and on the website.
