Captain’s knock: Raju bashed by ball sparking fears he’ll forget tactical masterplans

TACTICAL master Raju Mazumder has suffered a sickening blow to the head in the nets – prompting fears he could forget his team’s match plans.

Preparations for King’s Road’s next clash were thrown into doubt on Sunday when Captain Marvel Raju was struck by a fearsome delivery.

Fast bowler Dan Howard bowled a terrifying ball which reared up off the pitch at pace to knock spinning sensation Raju off his feet.

Team mates looked on in horror as their captain – who has master-minded The Road’s detailed match strategies – was left with a vicious graze to his forehead.

The wound then swelled to the size of a golf ball and the Battersea Park net session had to be halted as the Road’s medical team rushed to Raju’s aid.

Specialists have put the inspirational captain under observation at the team’s Battersea base and team selectors will make a decision on his match fitness later this week.

Raju’s injury has left the Orange Caps’ with a serious headache going into next Sunday’s crunch home match against the Crystal Palace Tavern.

Tinkerman Raju is famed for his meticulous approach to big matches and has even included the study of Eastern psychology, philosophy and motivation techniques in his methods.

The 24-year-old has said he sleeps in his cricket whites and apparently once fumbled answering the phone to opener Leon Watson – because he was wearing batting gloves.

But Raju’s “holistic” approach to cricket has paid dividends after he led his team to a sensational win against old rivals the Battersea Badgers.
