Bowlers break through all barriers as King’s Road flood Thames Ditton 4XI

King’s Road travelled South West for the glorious Collett’s fixture in the heart of North Surrey suburbs.

Beneath blue skies and overlooked by a sun-trapped balcony, Skipper Jamie Keats was put to the sword by the coin as Thames Ditton win the toss and decided to bat.

Led out into the sweltering cauldron, Keats went early doors to John Pinkos and Mo Shaboodien who took no time in getting into the action, the hefty Northerner taking first blood bowling Geoff Dryden for 2.

The Mo-notonous bowling at the other end was too much too, as Shaboodien trapped Nadim Ahmed for 1, and bowling Javed Khan for 17. He wasn’t finished there either, as he doubled is wickets picking up 7-2-18-4.

Newbie Matt Andrews tore through one over, picking up 1-0-1-1 in true binary fashion.

The spinners were next on, as Jamie Keats and wild legspinners from Matt Small pick up a brace.

The damage had truly been done by the openers, but it was rounded off beautifully by Laxman Pillai, excelling as he always does in the South West, picking up 1.1-0-1-2. Thames Ditton amassed 83 of 23.4ovs.

Tea was well earned and well eaten.

The Road opened up with Peter Jackson Eastwood and Oscar Newlove, but there was NoLove for Oscar as he went first ball.

MAndrews stepped to the crease and stepped on the accelerator blasting his way to 51 of 81 deliveries. Close to finishing the game off, he was sharply caught 9 runs from a red-inker.

It took a lusty 6 from John Pinkos to take The Road over the line, Road win by 5 wickets.

Handshakes all round as Thames Ditton were sterling hosts. The Road took to the Collett balcony to watch the other team play, relax with refreshments and watch the Small/Newlove 100m race. There could only be one winner.
