Orange Caps to play first double header

KING’S Road will play twice in one weekend and take on a stack of new teams next season, it has been decided.

Club bosses met in Battersea last night to take the first steps towards organising next season’s fixture list.

The five committee members present drew up a list of 15 teams The Road will approach with a view to playing.

Among those were the teams taking part in the London Premier League this year.

They are the London Itinerants, Cairns Fudge CC, The Twenty Minuters XI and the Corridors CC.

Other sides the club is hoping to play include Grace Church, the Hammersmith Hawks and the Thespian Thunderers.

In total, the club wants to play around the same amount of games played in 2010 – which was 18.

That includes two games in one double-header weekend in May or early June.

Preferred pitches include Battersea Park, Palewell Common, Wimbledon’s Dundonald Park and Tooting Common.

Plans for the club tour were also discussed and the committee is hoping to recruit a volunteer to help make it happen.

Venues put forward include Slovenia, The Channel Islands, France, Somerset, Yorkshire and Durham.

The club AGM will be held in late January to early February, where members can discuss fixtures further.
